Overview
On April 12, 2008, history was made when St. Vincent's HealthCare took over operations of St. Luke's Hospital, one of the cornerstones in the Jacksonville healthcare community. The move will extend St. Vincent's historical mission of serving the sick and the poor to the Southside of the North Florida community of more than 1 million residents.
Old Becomes New To longtime Jacksonville residents, there is nothing brand new about St. Luke's Hospital. It is the city's oldest hospital, with nearly 135 years of caring for the community. St. Vincent's Medical Center is the city's second oldest existing healthcare provider.
What will be new are the additional resources available for the region and the opportunity for residents on Jacksonville's Southside to experience the same quality healthcare offered by the Daughters of Charity at St. Vincent's Medical Center – without having to cross the St. Johns River. |
